Conference Dinner (Thursday, June 18, 2026)
The Conference Dinner will be held at La Vecchia Dogana, an exclusive venue located within Catania’s historic port area, just a pleasant 15-minute walk from Le Ciminiere Congress and Exhibition Center.
Housed in a magnificent late 19th-century customs building, La Vecchia Dogana has been carefully restored to combine its maritime heritage with contemporary elegance. Today, it stands as a refined and modern space overlooking the harbor, where tradition and innovation blend seamlessly.
Guests will enjoy a distinctive atmosphere with panoramic views of the waterfront — sailing masts, mooring ropes, returning fishing boats, and the shimmering lights of cruise ships — that captures the vibrant spirit of Catania’s port.
Excursion Options (Wednesday, June 17, 2026)
Excursion 1 – Taormina
Duration: approximately 5 hours
Known as the Pearl of the Ionian Sea, Taormina enchants visitors with its timeless charm and breathtaking views over the coast and Mount Etna.
The tour begins with a guided visit to the Ancient Theatre, a masterpiece of Greek-Roman architecture that combines historical grandeur with a spectacular natural setting. The itinerary continues to the Church of Saint Catherine and the nearby Roman Odeon, before a leisurely stroll along Corso Umberto, the lively heart of the town lined with elegant boutiques, artisan shops, and hidden courtyards.
Time permitting, the visit will conclude at the Public Gardens (Villa Comunale), a peaceful haven designed in the 19th century with an English-style layout and lush Mediterranean vegetation.
After the guided tour, participants will enjoy free time to explore at their own pace, savor local delicacies, or simply relax and admire the stunning panoramas before returning to Catania.
Excursion 2 – Mount Etna
Duration: approximately 6 hours
Embark on an unforgettable adventure to Mount Etna, Europe’s highest and most active volcano, and a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The excursion begins with a scenic bus ascent to 2,000 meters, offering striking views of ancient and recent lava flows that have shaped this unique landscape. Once at the base area, participants may choose between two options:
Continue the ascent by cable car and 4×4 vehicle up to 2,900 meters, accompanied by professional alpine guides, to experience the otherworldly atmosphere of the upper volcanic slopes.
Alternatively, enjoy a guided walk around the Silvestri Craters, smaller secondary cones formed during the late 19th century, easily accessible from the main station.
Free time will be available for lunch and for exploring the surroundings at your own pace. The experience combines breathtaking scenery, scientific fascination, and the awe-inspiring beauty of nature’s power.
Excursion 3 – Catania
Duration: approximately 4 hours
Nestled between the sea and Mount Etna, Catania captivates visitors with its millennia-old history and its striking architecture carved from black lava stone.
The guided tour begins in Piazza Duomo, the vibrant heart of the city, home to the majestic Cathedral of Saint Agatha and the iconic Elephant Fountain, symbol of Catania. The visit continues with the Badia di Sant’Agata, one of the most elegant examples of Sicilian Baroque, offering a splendid view from its panoramic terrace.
From there, the route follows Via dei Crociferi, an authentic Baroque jewel adorned with magnificent churches and monasteries, including San Benedetto with its scenic “Staircase of the Angels.”
Depending on time and participants’ interest, the itinerary may extend to the Roman Amphitheater (admission fee required), a remarkable testimony of the city’s ancient past.
Before returning, participants will have free time to enjoy the lively atmosphere of Catania’s historic center.
